Camp Geronimo

DQ, Sandy and I took our sons to Camp Geronimo up on the rim for a Webelos emcampment. It was beautiful and the boys had a blast. I have tons of pictures (thanks Sandy) but somehow I was able to choose just a few (sort of).

On the way up there the truck ate DQ. What do you think a good or bad sign?

They just ate. You tell by the look on their faces or they just want the pic done so they can go explore the camp.

They did of activities...horseback riding. What boy can resist BB guns.

Archery. They said that Blake was a natural. I was proud of him, he did great and really liked it. Although, I haven't figured out if thats good or bad.

How is that for landscaping around the pool.

They worked on knots and lashing. I asked Blake to show me. Thats a look of excitement if I ever saw one.

They were able to take turns rowing. DQ took the first turn.

Of course there is nothing like just enjoying the great outdoors.

Anyone who knows Blake knows that anywhere he goes he finds a seat. Here is one at our campsite.

By the pond (I know the pic is tall but the trees are pretty so I didn't crop them out)

And a tree stump.

Don't believe it. No, really they are all great boys and had a great time.

One night we had kitchen duty. The boys (all 4 of them lol) had the dishes. They loved it. When we asked them their favorite thing at camp they all say dishes!

But my favorite thing, other than the boys having a great time, was the ice cream shots we could buy at the trading post for a quarter! You gotta love ice cream!

Dirty Derby Anyone?

Jeff and DQ decided to build a Dirty Derby track for our scout family camp. Its just like a pinewood derby but with less rules and the winner is not the car the farthest down the track but the piece of car that goes the farthest.

Here is Jeff and DQ working hard.

Blake helped with the painting.

Here it is all set up at Family Camp.

Here are the dirty derby cars the boys made.

Kirk was running the starting line.

Montezums Well

One of the summer events our Cub Scout Pack did this past summer was a hike at Montezums Well. It was lots of fun.

Montezuma's Well is a sinkhole, a collapsed underground limestone cavern filled with water. More than a million gallons of water a day flow continuously and reachers still don't know the source. http://www.desertusa.com/mag98/aug/stories/montzwell.html This link will give you more information if you want.
Desirae is ready to hike dressed in pack green and pink of course.
The view down into the well.
The boys are resting up for the hike.
The hike down.
This is a dwelling down in the well.
Blake resting up for the hike up.
These are the dwellings that are up on the wall of the Well. They are amazing.

The hike up.
Kirk and friend, our pack Boy Scouts, made it up first.

Its football time!!!

Kirk made the school football team. Woohoo! He tried last year and was one of the last ones to get cut. He tried out again this year (I am glad he didn't get discouraged) and made it. I am very proud of him. They had a scrimmage yesterday. I of course took pics but he told me he didn't want me to post them because "it wasn't a real game". So, no pics. His first "real" game is Monday. Go Heritage Eagles!!
